Saudi Officials Try To Shut Down Oregon Charity Group Owns Property In Ashland ASHLAND, Ore. -- The Saudi Arabian government is trying to shut down an Islamic charity with ties to Oregon and to terrorism. Al-Haramain runs a branch in Ashland and owns a house and acreage (pictured) in the Southern Oregon town. The FBI shut down the Ashland branch and seized evidence several months ago. The Oregon foundation is accused of laundering money from overseas and channeling it to terrorist groups. BEAVERTON, Ore. -- The City of Beaverton has expanded the scope of a celebration that started out as a party for Mexico's Independence Day. The city on Friday announced they were broadening the festival to recognize National Hispanic Heritage Month for the "Year of the Bicentennial" in the Americas as Argentina, Chile, Colombia, and Mexico all marking 200 years of independence over the month. GALICE, Ore. – Police uprooted another marijuana grow site in Galice. According to Josephine County Sheriff Gil Gilberston, authorities found a huge amount of marijuana in the area of Galice. Gilbertson says the grow is linked to the Mexican Drug Cartel. So far, police have put 18 people in jail. Gilbertson says the grow is massive but he cannot release the total amount of plants because the case is still under investigation. Galice Resident Cole Smith says he is frustrated with police. MEDFORD, Ore. - Two lawsuits involving the Jackson County Sheriff's Office are costing the county more than $50,000, according to numbers released this week by the Medford Mail Tribune newspaper. Beaverton middle school teacher Jason Levin, who founded the now notorious "Crash the Tea Party" website, is no longer a teacher. Jason Levin Levin resigned Wednesday in lieu of termination, said Beaverton School District Legal Counsel Camellia Osterink.
